Alice Marie Barr

Alice Marie Barr, 93, of Point Pleasant, died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born May 20, 1920, in Spencer, WV, a daughter of the late Camden Clairmont Miller and Grace Gertrude (Mace) Miller. Alice was an exceptional homemaker throughout her life and was a personal caregiver to several ladies after the death of her husband. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Bridge Club and Tu-Endie-Wei Garden Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Barr; one sister, Correda G. Hensley and brother, Claire Ardin Miller. Alice is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Barbara and Don Cox of Oswego, NY and Rachael Proffitt of Point Pleasant, WV; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Melinda Barr of Worthington, OH; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Bishop Mark Lattime officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made in memory of Alice Marie Barr to the Pleasant Valley Hospital Health Foundation at 2520 Valley Drive, Point Pleasant, WV 25550.
