Alma Juanita Rainey

Alma Juanita Rainey, 86, of Apple Grove, WV, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born November 23, 1939, in Apple Grove, WV, a daughter of the late Leslie Jasper and Goldie Frances (Long) Fooce. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ronald “Jimmy” Rainey; son, Ronnie Rainey; sisters, Genevieve Fowler, Wilma L. Dunn, Lorena Young; brother, Roy Fooce; son-in-law, Lee Shull; grandson-in-law, Robbie Dabney.

Alma was a homemaker and a member of Barton Chapel Church. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds around her home and working with her flowers.

Survivors include her daughter, Penny Shull of Southside, WV; two granddaughters, Leslie Dabney of Apple Grove, WV, Jessica Connolly and her husband, Jeremy of Point Pleasant, WV; great grandchildren, Brayden Connolly, Kendal Connolly, Grace Rainey; daughter-in-law, Joyce Rainey of Apple Grove, WV and several loving nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2026, at Barton Chapel Church with Pastor Ronald Long and Tyler Sharp officiating. Burial will follow at Potts Chapel Cemetery, Apple Grove, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. until time of the service on Monday, at the church.
