Anthony Wayne Thornton

Anthony Wayne Thornton, 53, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born July 8, 1959, in South Charleston, WV, a son of Keith Thornton and Darlin R. (White) Thornton of Point Pleasant. Anthony had worked as an enviromental specialist with the EPA. He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, and American Legion Post No. 23 of Point Pleasant; and had served his country for 10 years as Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. Preceding him in death were a brother, Keith Ray Thornton Jr.; maternal grandparents, Eben and Edna White; and paternal grandparents, Everett and Mary Thornton. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Scott Thornton of Mooresville, North Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Bethany and James McQuaid of South Point, Ohio; one grandson, Aidan McQuaid of South Point; and a sister and brother-in-law, DaWanna and Michael Holley of Point Pleasant. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Rev. Jack Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in the White Family Cemetery at Long Bottom, Ohio where military graveside rites will be given by the West Virginia Honor Guard and American Legion Post No. 23 of Point Pleasant.
