Barry Alan Porter

Barry Alan Porter, 63, of Point Pleasant, WV, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at home, following an extended illness.

He was born May 9, 1962, in Gallipolis, OH, a son of Sharon Kay (Hutchinson) Porter and the late Chauncey “Bill” Porter.

Barry graduated from Point Pleasant High School, class of 1980 and faithfully served in the United States Airforce during the United States invasion of Grenada. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0023, Point Pleasant, WV, for 35 years and had previously worked as a Mechanic for R&R Automotive in Point Pleasant. Barry enjoyed fishing, taking drives in the country and to the mountains, visiting with his kids and grandchildren, and collecting various knives.

Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife of 25 years, Darlene (Gillispie) Porter; children, Jason (Amariani) Porter of Arizona, Chad (Donna) Porter of Hurricane, WV; brother, Jeff (Jessica) Porter of Point Pleasant and eight grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Will Basham officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens, Point Pleasant, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service on Thursday, at the funeral home.
