Beverly Kay Wedge Cottrill, lovingly known as “Toodle,” entered into the Lord’s presence on September 17, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born on June 6, 1936 to the late Paul Dencil Wedge, Sr., and Lillian Herrig Wedge in Fostoria, Ohio. She resided in Point Pleasant, WV and graduated from Point Pleasant High School. She shared almost 70 years of marriage with Clair Lee Cottrill, whom she married on November 24, 1955.
Toodle faithfully lived out many roles in her lifetime. She was a devoted homemaker, an excellent cook who kept her family well-fed, and a gifted gardener. She also served as bookkeeper for Tim-Rock Farm, though her contribution went far beyond the books; her steady presence and daily support were vital to the family farm’s success. In her later years, she lovingly cared for her husband, embodying the faithfulness and compassion that defined her life.
Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also found happiness in creative hobbies, beautiful flowers, gospel music, and traveling. She cherished her close-knit circle of friends, the Jolly Dozen, whose fellowship enriched her life for decades. She was a faithful Mountaineer sports fan and greatly enjoyed watching baseball in recent years.
At the center of Toodle’s life was her unwavering faith in Jesus, which shaped her spirit and left a lasting impact on countless people. She was a longtime member of Heights United Methodist Church and later a beloved member of LifeSpring Community Church. Her faith was evident to all who knew her, as she consistently displayed the character of God through her love, kindness, generosity, and grace.
Toodle was deeply loved by her family. She is survived by her husband, Clair Lee Cottrill; her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Debi Cottrill; her daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Todd Burk; grandchildren, Evan (Caelen) Rossi, David (Stephanie) Rossi, Claire Cottrill, Kalee Burk, Joshua Burk; and great-grandchildren, Casen and Callie Rossi. She is also survived by her siblings, Betsy Blain and Jimmy Joe Wedge, along with many other beloved relatives and friends whom she loved as family. Toodle was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brothers, Richard “Dick” Herrig and Paul “Denny” Wedge Jr.
At her request, a graveside service will be held at Kirkland Memorial Garden on Tuesday, September 23, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rich Blain. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LifeSpring Community Church in honor of Toodle’s love for Jesus and her church community.
