Connie Ann Musgrave

After 88 vibrant years on earth, Connie Ann Upp Musgrave went home to be with the Lord on September 28, 2026. She was born September 17, 1938 and married the love of her life, Jim Musgrave, on December 5, 1959. Together they had 4 children: Curt Musgrave (Jackie), Julie Rapp (Gary), Mary Susan Anderson (Rob) and Mike Musgrave.

Born at home in Durbin, WV (Pocahontas County) to Martha Lee (nee Pritchard) and Robert McNickle, Connie was a life-long West Virginian. She graduated from both Hurricane High School and Marshall University. Over her life she lived in Huntington, Point Pleasant and Barboursville. Providing a stable home life and raising children were her priorities and she supplemented those with many activities and part-time jobs to support those priorities including as a Girl Scout troop leader, a Youth in Government office assistant, a VBS leader, a Sunday School teacher, and more. She never met a card game she wouldn’t try, excelling at Bridge, Canasta, and Five Crowns, in addition to her favorites of Mexican Train and Ticket to Ride. An avid seamstress, she enjoyed cross stitching, knitting and making clothes for her family - even a wedding dress! She and Jim loved traveling in their retirement years, cruising and seeing the world with friends and family.

They were surrounded by loving communities in their various churches, most recently Highlawn Presbyterian in Huntington. Wherever they were planted, Connie filled her time singing in the choir, playing handbells, leading women’s groups, and other administrative positions. She loved deeply in a way that impacted generations of her family to live out the same example of Jesus every day. Her family would find her early (or not so early) in the morning nestled on the couch with her stack of devotionals and journals as she cultivated her relationship with God through prayer and scripture. Her memory will live on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as they seek to emulate her care, integrity, and generosity. In addition to her beloved husband and children, Connie leaves behind a sister, Adrianna Kenworthy, 3 nieces, 1 nephew, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Highlawn Presbyterian Church, 2814 Collins Ave, Huntington WV 25702 on Thursday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m. Friends will be received in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Highlawn Presbyterian Church or the St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation, 2900 1st Ave., Huntington, WV 25702.
