Charles William Fulks

Charles William Fulks, 89, of Point Pleasant, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023, at Rivers Health in Point Pleasant.

He was born February 13, 1934, in Lawrence County, Ohio, a son of the late Junius J. Fulks and Gay (Pemberton) Fulks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Fulks; son-in-law, Ted Box; granddaughter, Shelley Winkler; and brothers, Ralph J. Fulks and Richard Fulks.

Charles was a member of New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Point Pleasant.  He was a graduate of Fairland High School Class of 1951 and served his country in the United States Army for two years and the United States Naval Reserve for four years.  Charles retired from the Kaiser Aluminum Company in Ravenswood after 22 years service.

Charles believed in helping and serving his community.  He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Hospital Auxiliary, where he served 12 years as president and two years as president of the West Virginia State Auxiliary Board.  Other organizations that Charles was involved in were the American Red Cross Board, charter member of the Gallipolis Jaycees and past president, board member of Southwestern Community Action Corporation and served six years with the Gallia County Fair Board.

He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Emily D. and Gilbert Spires of Gallipolis, OH and Brenda Box of Mason, WV; son and daughter-in-law, David R. and Shasta Winkler of Sherrills Ford, NC; grandchildren, Moriah (Michael) Barnes, Aubrey Winkler, Garrett (Brandy) Winkler and Payton (Danielle) Winkler; and great-grandchildren, Mason Edmondson, Preston Huffman, Sawyer Edmondson, Paisley Winkler, Caroline Winkler and Warren Winkler.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Dean Warner officiating.  Burial will follow at Balls Chapel Cemetery in Ashton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday at the funeral home.
