Clair Lee Cottrill

July 3, 1936 — November 21, 2025

Clair Lee Cottrill, Jr. entered into the Lord’s presence on November 21, 2025 at the age of 89. He was born on July 3, 1936 to the late Clair L., Sr. and Hattie Enid Somerville Cottrill in Point Pleasant, WV. He was born and resided in Point Pleasant, WV all his life and graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1955.

Clair Lee shared just short of 70 years of marriage with the love of his life, the late Beverly “Toodle” Wedge Cottrill, whom he married on November 24, 1955. Clair Lee’s life was full of both blessing and hardship. He endured polio in high school, which left him with lifelong challenges, but this never stopped him from working and serving others. He was the founder of Tim-Rock Farm, a dairy in West Columbia, WV, named after his two children. His skill and dedication shaped not only the farm but his family, who grew up showing dairy cattle and spending countless hours working alongside him. Clair Lee served the wider agricultural community through service in local and state offices and was involved in the Mason County Fair. He was known for his unwavering faith in God and his faithful service in the Church. A longtime member of Heights United Methodist Church and later LifeSpring Community Church, Clair Lee served in many meaningful ways throughout the years. He also loved to sing in praise to God, sharing his gift through solos, choirs, cantatas, and as a member of the Beulah Land Quartet. Southern gospel music was one of his greatest joys, and he and Toodle spent many years traveling with friends to hear their favorite gospel singers. Clair Lee will be remembered as a hardworking man of great integrity, whose life was marked by endurance, humility, and a genuine love for others. He took Jesus’ call to serve those who could never repay him seriously, often offering help to people others overlooked. His quiet strength was familiar to everyone who knew him, and his grin, one that could light up a room, remained with him until his very last days.

Clair Lee is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Debi Cottrill; his daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Todd Burk; grandchildren, Evan Rossi (Caelen McCauley), David (Stephanie) Rossi, Claire Cottrill (Josh Weddle), Kalee Burk, Joshua Burk; and great grandchildren, Casen and Callie Rossi. He is also survived by his brother Mike (Shirley) Cottrill and other beloved relatives and friends. Clair Lee was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters, Elizabeth “Babe” Shiflet, Eileen Harris, and Linda Rogers.

A funeral service will be held on December 8 at 11:00 AM at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, with visitation beginning one hour prior. A graveside service will follow at Kirkland Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family simply asks for your prayers during this time.
