Clara Sayre

Clara Sayre, 103, of Point Pleasant, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born August 18, 1923, in Rand, WV, a daughter of the late Roy Irton and Iva Gertrude (Killingsworth) Simpkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Hensford “Hen” Sayre; sons, Guy Sayre, Larry Sayre, Jerry Sayre, John Sayre; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila (Lester) Cochran; three brothers and eight sisters.

Clara was a homemaker and loved being able to cook for her family and care for her grandbabies. She loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church and reading the bible. Clara attended Wesleyan Church in Point Pleasant and the Church of Christ in Christian Union of Point Pleasant.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (Lloyd) Hayes of Point Pleasant, Deb (Carl) Gillispie of Letart, Donna Sayre of Point Pleasant, Linda (Jimmy) Davis of Point Pleasant; son, Terry (Jeannie) Sayre of Point Pleasant; step-daughter, Carolyn (Denver) Coleman of Buffalo; bonus son, Mike (Sophie) Watson of Galion, OH; sister, Opal Hughes of Mason, WV; daughters-in-law, Brenda Sayre of Point Pleasant, Debbie Sayre of Letart; 18 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor David Washington officiating. Burial will follow at Suncrest Cemetery, Point Pleasant, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at the funeral home.
