David Leland Sturgeon

David Leland Sturgeon, 69, of Apple Grove, WV, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, OH, following an extended illness.

He was born August 27, 1955, in Point Pleasant, WV, a son of the late Lewis L. and Maxine (Fielder) Sturgeon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Michelle Sturgeon; son, Scott Stewart; brothers, John Sturgeon, Lewis Sturgeon and grandson, Christopher A. Sturgeon.

David served in the United States Marines and had worked for Tristate Dry Wall for over 20 years, and Casey’s Construction Company. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Bonnie (Hill) Sturgeon; sons, Mike Sturgeon and his wife, Kimberly of Apple Grove, Chris Sturgeon of Apple Grove; daughter, Staci Sturgeon of Apple Grove; sisters, Delva Newhouse of Clendenin, WV, Jaretta Hissom of OH, Sonya Eshelman of Columbus, OH; 19 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces, and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastors John Hill and Gig Page officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. until time of the service on Thursday, at the funeral home.
