David Allen Watterson

David Allen Watterson, 69, of Apple Grove, WV, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV, following a brief illness.

He was born April 23, 1956, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late James Leonard "Jimmy" Jr. and Janice Ilene (Gillispie) Watterson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, James Leonard Sr. and Dorothy Watterson; maternal grandparents, Winfred and Edith Gillispie.

David was a 1975 graduate of Hannan High School and was a member of the Moores Chapel Church of Ashton. He retired from Mason County Schools as a Bus Driver with 30 years of service and was currently driving truck for Foster Trucking of Bidwell, OH.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sharon (Jones) Watterson; children, Tara (Erick) Conrad of Milton, WV, Kim (Mike) Sturgeon of Apple Grove, WV; grandchildren, his pride and joy, Wrylie Conrad, of Milton, McKynley Sturgeon of Apple Grove; step granddaughter, Natasha Sturgeon of Culloden; two great-grandchildren, Melah, and Rayla; sister, Janie (Hugh) Burris of Point Pleasant; brothers, Steve (Tammy) Watterson of Apple Grove, Ernie (Vicki) Watterson of Apple Grove; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Phil and Cindy Jones, Danny and Shirley Morrow of Point Pleasant, WV; several nieces, nephews, and additional loved family members.

Service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Matt Ash officiating. Burial will follow at the Watterson Family Cemetery, Apple Grove, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the funeral home.
