Dennis Roy "Denny" Sowards II

Dennis Roy “Denny” Sowards II, 44, of Southside, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at home.

He was born December 13, 1981, in Point Pleasant, WV, a son of Nannette (Dave) Ball and the late Dennis Roy Sowards Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert “Bare” Turner and best friend, Matt Cossin

Denny graduated from Point Pleasant High School, class of 2000 and worked as a Mason for HKPW Masonry, Inc. with 17 years of service. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Denny was a hard worker and enjoyed drag racing, four wheeling, collecting guns, fishing, and was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Survivors in addition to his mother, include his beloved companion of 17 years, Miranda (Tarbett) Whittington; children, Kenadie (Jacob) Williams of Jacksonville, NC, Danielle Sowards (Brady Anderson) of Stewart, OH, Jaden Whittington (Caiden) of Point Pleasant; siblings, Nathan Sowards of Southside, Harry Turner of Oh, David (Sarah) Ball of Vinton, OH, Jodi Turner of Piketon, OH; grandchildren, Alaina, Kenly, Bryson, Willow, Brentlee; a host of nieces and nephews; best friends, Davie Cheesebrew, Tyler Ury, Brian Long and his faithful fur companion, Wesson.

Service will be 2 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor David Radcliff officiating. Burial will follow at the Suncrest Cemetery, Point Pleasant, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. until time of the service on Monday, at the funeral home.
