Donald Edward Gillispie Jr.

Donald Edward Gillispie Jr., 68, of Ashton, WV, went to be with his Savior and friend on November 14, 2025, after his hard fought battle with cancer. His body has now been healed. He was born on May 20, 1957, to Donald Sr. and Esther Gillispie, who both preceded him in death.

He was known to love the Lord above all, and was a member of Moores Chapel Church in Ashton. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Marr) Gillispie, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage with. Also surviving are their sons, Michael (Tessa) and Jacob (Brittany). Donnie was a loving and supportive grandpa to his grandchildren, Logan, Brayden, Grant, Aniston, Forrest, Lyla, and Laci. He was so proud of his family. Also surviving, sister, Sheila Evick (Rock), brother-in-law, Danny Marr (Darlene), and sister-in-law, Brenda Roush (Bob), and Sherry Beaver (Doug); aunts and uncle, Vonda Powers, Barbara and John Mayes, Judy Felty, Sharon Dixon.

He was employed for 38 years at the Gavin Power Plant in Cheshire, Ohio, where he made life long friends. He loved the adventure of exploring our great country on his motorcycle with Bonnie on behind holding on tight. Can’t forget he loved his Mountaineers sports. He could always be found at a ball field or gym supporting the grandkids in their activities. Donnie will be remembered for his love for the Lord and family, his generosity, sense of humor, and his love for sweets from whoever would bring him some. The family would like to express their gratitude for the care he received at The Cleveland Clinic and St. Mary’s Hospital.

Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Cathy Searls and Shelby Searls officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens, Point Pleasant, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the funeral home.
