Donald Wesley “Don” Waugh Sr., 91 of Ashton, WV, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Don was born on June 15, 1935, in Ashton, WV, a son of the late Ernest Clay Waugh and Birdie Ellen (Pike) Waugh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Ann (Roy) Waugh; grandsons, Roger Allen Plants II and Jeffrey Allen Salmons; sisters, Mary G. Bias, Dorothy Robinson, Francis Lawrence and Dolly “Dank” Waugh; brothers, Delbert C. “Dick” Waugh, Charles D. “Charlie Bill” Waugh and one infant brother.

Don was retired from Marcum Sawmill in Ashton, WV and attended Balls Chapel Church in Ashton, WV. Don’s passion was farming and he enjoyed watching wrestling, sitting on the front porch with his fur baby BB and telling stories with all of those who came by to visit. The one person that he depended on the most was his sidekick and youngest son Joe.

Survivors include his children, Donald (Robin) Waugh of Fraziers Bottom, WV, Becky (Roger) Plants of Point Pleasant, WV, Vicky (Larry) Edmonds of Glenwood, WV, Tracy (John) Saunders of Ashton, WV, Cleo (Danny) Trippett of Ashton, WV, Joe Waugh of Ashton, WV and one grandson that was raised as a son, Russell (Jackie) Waugh of Ashton, WV; one sister, Lula Waugh of Ashton, WV; five grandchildren, Tony Salmons, Billy Nicely, Brandon Waugh, Caitlin Trippett and Sami (Trace) Derenberger; seven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate the life of Don will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Tex Nance officiating. Private burial will be held at Balls Chapel Cemetery, Ashton, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
