Floyd Dennis Weaver, 87, of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, March 26th, 2026 from his home.
Dennis was born on April 19th, 1938 in Broad Run, West Virginia to Charles E. Weaver and Grace A. McMillin Weaver and was the youngest of 9 siblings, all proceeding him in death. He worked throughout the county in various jobs, positions carpentry trades and as a barber while also serving the local and nearby communities as pastor, singer and worship leader.
He began his early life as a barber in nearby Mason and transitioned to mining where was employed for a number of years at Meigs Mine #2 during the mid-1970’s. In the 1980’s he left the mine and joined the Mason County Board of Education working in various positions and schools where, finally retiring in 2006 from the Maintenance Department. In retirement, he returned to barbering where he lived out doing what he loved, interacting and engaging his customers from across the community.
Dennis also served as a bi-vocational pastor for a number of churches throughout the years including the Church of Christ in Christian Union (Leon and Point Pleasant), Mount Union Baptist Church (Carpenter, OH), Christ Temple (Albany, OH) and Syracuse Community Church (Syracuse, OH). He and his wife, Brenda, served together as Director and Pianist for the Mason County Area Gospel Choir for 28 years, traveling and singing at churches throughout the county. The choir consisted of many members from various churches and denominations within Mason County. He was well known for his singing, friendly personality, sense of humor. and was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather.
Dennis is survived by his wife Brenda M. (Smith) Weaver of 62 years, son Dennie Weaver of Point Pleasant and children Erin and Ethan, son Timothy Weaver and wife Charity of Huntsville, Alabama and daughter Emma; he is also survived by the many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
He loved the Word of God and the gift of sharing it with all he met. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the many people who came to know him.
Service will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Doug Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the Graham Cemetery, Letart, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to service.
