Francis “Dale” Carr of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, made his heavenly journey home on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
Dale was born on March 12, 1941. He was preceded in death by a son, William “Billy” Carr; Billy’s mother, Dollie; one sister, Patty Carr and one brother, Harry “Red” Carr.
Dale lived a simple content life. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the 111th Infantry in Georgia. He was a hard worker who was always dedicated to his work. He held many different jobs in his lifetime from an Iron worker to electrician to boat engineer and many others in between.
Dale loved his family with all his heart. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. They were the joy of his life. Most of all, Dale loved Jesus. He knew the Bible from cover to cover and knew his final destination was heaven. Dale attended College Hill Church. Dale’s legacy will live on through his sons and grandchildren striving to show to others the happiness and love that Dale shared with everyone he knew.
Dale leaves behind his wife, Sharon Carr of Gallipolis Ferry; two sons, Howie (LaDonna) Carr of Gallipolis Ferry, Clinton (Vicky) Carr of Athens, OH; five grandchildren, Jessica (Jesse) Nott of Gallipolis Ferry, Justin (Nicole) Carr of Leon, Jacob Carr of Gallipolis Ferry, Evie and William Carr of Athens, OH; seven great grandchildren, Joleigh, Jocelyn, Jenna and Jerah Nott, Marlee, Paislee, and Tucker Carr.
Service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Jesse Nott officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Gallipolis Ferry, WV. Military honors will be provided by the Stewart Johnson V.F.W. Post 9926, Mason, WV, American Legion Post 140, New Haven, WV, American Legion Post 39, Pomeroy, OH, and the West Virginia Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House at 3100 Staunton Road Huntington, WV 25702.
