George Robert Blankenship Jr.

George Robert Blankenship Jr., 59, of Point Pleasant, WV, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Rivers Health in Point Pleasant.

He was born November 14, 1966, in South Charleston, WV, a son of the late George Robert Sr. and Unis Maxine (Cooper) Blankenship.

George was a 1986 graduate of Point Pleasant High School and was a farmer.

George loved working with his hands and was happiest when he had something to fix, tinker with, or figure out. He had a particular love for Farmall tractors and a well-earned appreciation for a good collection of tools. If something was broken, George was usually willing to take a look at it. His hands may have been stained with grease more often than not, but he was always ready to lend a hand to a friend or family member.

George didn’t just want to fix something for you; he wanted to show you how to fix it yourself. He was always willing to share what he knew, teach someone how to use a tool, or stand beside them while they figured something out. His knowledge, perseverance, and willingness to help will be remembered by all those who had the privilege of learning from him.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Rhonda Carol (McCoy) Blankenship; daughter, Elizabeth AnnMarie Blankenship of Diamondhead, Mississippi; sisters, Tina Myers of Point Pleasant, WV, Tona Smith of Point Pleasant, WV, Lana Thomas (Bobby) of Leon, WV. He is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and fur babies, Bella and Farmall 706.

Service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Joe Nott officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, Letart, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until time of the service on Thursday, at funeral home.
