Helen M. Null, 104, of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026, peacefully, at home, just weeks shy of her 105th birthday. At the time of her passing, she was the longest living citizen of Mason County.
She was born August 24, 1921, in Gallipolis Ferry, WV, a daughter of the late Ben F. and Sadie Hatfield Henry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Riverboat Captain Edgar R. (Chick) Null; grandson, Kevin West; great grandson, Hayden West; sisters, Eleanor Jarrett, Norma Fowler, Phyllis Beckner and brothers, Leland Henry, Major Henry, and Archie Henry.
Helen was a homemaker and the longest serving member of the Jordan Baptist Church in Gallipolis Ferry, WV. She was a lifetime member of the Point Pleasant River Museum in honor of her husband. She sewed quilts by hand for each grandchild, and great grandchild.
She loved working outside and was noted for her beautiful bearded yellow Irises that was admired by driving by, she also enjoyed sitting on her porch swing. Helen’s church family was a big part of her life and enjoyed attending church since she was a little girl.
Helen enjoyed preparing family meals for gatherings and will be remembered as a good Christian, mother, and grandmother serving Christ.
Survivors include her children, Carol R. West of Glendale, WV, Karen L. King of Gallipolis Ferry, WV; brother, Pat Henry and his wife, Susan of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Rashelle (Brad) Schnarr, Jarrod Perdue and Lindsay Perdue; great grandsons, Colton, Jordon, Kyler and Kaden; one great great grandson, Liam and step grandmother to eight grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Service will be 12 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Jarrett and Pastor Bo Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at the Beale Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to service on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jordan Baptist Church, 2430 Clendenin Pike, Gallipolis Ferry, WV 25515.
