Jacqueline Y. Bowling, 83, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Holzer Medical Center. "We use the word "SPECIAL" to describe people that are one of a kind! Or a person who----spreads Love with a smile or kind gesture. "Special applies to something that is, admired and precious. "Special" is the word that best describes Jackie." She was born March 17, 1929 in Logan, WV, a daughter of the late Oscar and Anna Maud (Henderson) Gillam. Jackie was a proud member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Point Pleasant. She was very active in all aspects of the church as Sunday School Teacher, choir member, ladies auxillary, senior adults leader and tireless volunteer. She retired from Burlile Oil Company in Gallipolis as an Office Manager and held several accounting and bookkeeping jobs in her career. A cancer survivor, Jackie was also very involved with relay for life and worked as a Hospice volunteer. Jackie's joy came from being involved in the many activities that were apart of her son's life which began a bond that would continue throughout their lives. Those being, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Den Mother, Homeroom Mother, PTA and Little League Volunteer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lonnie Bowling; brothers, Carlton Gillam, Grady Gillam, Wayne Ghee and Montell "Joe" Glennon; one sister, Ada Mae Looney. She is survived by a son, David Bowling of Point Pleasant; a special granddaughter, Taylor Jacqueline Bowling and great-granddaughter Chloe of Cleveland, OH; a sister, Sue NeSmith (Ernie) of Orlando, FL; a brother, Fred Gillam (Debbie) of Orlando, FL; sisters-in-law, Opal Gillam of Dayton, OH, and Anna Lee Gillam of Orlando, FL, along with several very special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Point Pleasant with Pastor James Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, and one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday.
