James E. Cottrell, 72, of Point Pleasant, died Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. He was born August 6, 1941, in Leon, WV, a son of the late Russell Cottrell and Mary (Stearns) Cottrell. James was a retired AEP River Captain with 40 years' service, and for 15 years had attended Gospel Lighthouse and the Family Worship Center. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jerrie L. Cottrell; a son, Jimmy Cottrell Jr.; and two brothers, Jack L. Cottrell, and Danny Cottrell. James is survived by one son, Larry A. (Willa) Cottrell of Point Pleasant; two daughters, Robin J. Farley of Vinton, OH, and Sharon L. (Richard) Rainey of Point Pleasant; six grandchildren, Joey (Miranda) Herdman, April (Travis) Schultz, Elizabeth Farley, Jacob Farley, Marci Cottrell, and Brody Cottrell; and six great grandchildren, Brianna Schultz, Trevor Schultz, Jeremiah Herdman, Josiah Herdman, Hayden Edwards, and Alexis Hopkins. Also, surviving are three sisters, Margie (Charles) Heib of Point Pleasant, Judy Gyson of Columbus, OH, and Patty Dynes of Lilburn, GA. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2013, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Preacher Tracey Durst officiating.
