James Ronald "Jimmy" Rainey, 78, of Apple Grove, WV, died Thursday, January 2, 2014, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born September 22, 1935, in Couch, WV, a son of the late Harry "Doc" Rainey and Sadie (Shepard) Rainey. Jimmy was a member of the Barton Chapel Church at Apple Grove. He served his country in the U.S. Army, and retired from Century Aluminum Company Ravenswood, WV with 35 years service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Earnest "Jake" Rainey, Paul Rainey, and Gary Rainey; one infant sister; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Les and Goldie Fooce. He is survived by his wife Alma (Fooce) Rainey of Apple Grove; a daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Lee Shull of Southside, WV; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Joyce Rainey of Apple Grove; two granddaughters, Jessica (Jeremy) Connolly and Leslie Dabney; and three great grandchildren, Kendal, Brayden, and Grace. Also, surviving are one brother, Roger Rainey; three sisters, Mary Norville, Kay Cole, and Betty Beatty; three sisters-in-law, Teddy Rainey, Renie (Junior) Young, and Genevieve Fowler; a brother-in-law, Roy (Jo) Fooce; special niece and husband, Donna and Howard Sharp; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Barton Chapel Church in Apple Grove, with Pastor Ronald Long officiating. Burial will follow at the Potts Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove. Visitation will be Saturday from 6-8 p.m., at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
