James Calvin Roberts

James Calvin Roberts, 84, of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Point Pleasant. He was born July 20, 1929, in Gallipolis Ferry, a son of the late Opal and Vivian Roberts. Jim was a member of the Laborers' Union of Huntington and worked for several Riverboat Companies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Bonnie Nutter; one brother, George Roberts; one infant brother, Rex Roberts and two nephews, Ronnie and Jerry Rainey. He is survived by one sister, Emogene Rainey; nieces, Tammy (Sam) Queen and Barbara Nutter; nephews, Ricky (Drema) Roberts, Joey (Addie) Roberts, Timmy (Debbie) Roberts, Nelson (Vivian) Nutter, Terry Nutter and Tom (Marcella) Nutter. Jim was loved by great nieces; Selena, Courtney, Melissa, Crystal, Wendy, Mia and Paula; great nephews, Shad, Nathan, Eric, Jim Ed, Dave, Gary, Greg and Jeff; great-great nieces, McKinley, Emily, Bailey and Delaney; great-great-nephews, Braylon, Ethan, Gavin, Jake and Hadyn. Jim had many friends and a good friend, John Hughes. A special thank you to Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center's staff for the good and professional care Jim received. A graveside service and burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Lewis Cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry with Rev. Ron Swiney officiating.
