Janette May Bowen

Janette May Bowen, 81, of Apple Grove, WV, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Rivers Health, Point Pleasant, WV.

She was born February 2, 1944, in Apple Grove, WV, a daughter of the late Bartroe and Mildred Ruby (Slayton) Long. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Clyde Wesley “Red” Bowen Jr.; sisters, Doris Jones, Wanda Dunn; son-in-law, Steve DeWeese and several brother-in-laws and sister-in-law.

Janette was a 1961 graduate of Hannan High School and had attended various churches through the years. She worked as a Clerk at the Gallipolis Ferry Post Office with over 20 years of service.

Survivors include her children, Terri (John Jr.) Watterson, Wesley (Misty) Bowen, and Regina DeWeese, all of Apple Grove; sisters, Joyce (David) Nibert, Hope (Marvin) Benson, Sharon (John) Webb, Connie Hussell; grandchildren, Alicia (Jason) Taylor, Trey (Jessie) Watterson, Hannah (Allston) Davis, Alana Edwards, Bowen DeWeese, Carson Rollins, Cadence Rollins, Sami Sheets, Alex (Karolina) Sheets, Tylor Sheets; great grandchildren, Lauren (Brad) Linger, Levi (Haley) Russell, Vivian Garrison, Paisley Schultz, Isaak Sheets; great great grandchildren, Cambrie Stewart, Beau Linger, Greyson Mcfann; sister-in-law, Norma Wears and her fur baby, Skippy.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a service immediately following at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Tony Stover officiating. Private burial will be held at Beale Chapel Cemetery, Apple Grove, WV, on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mason County Animal Shelter, Point Pleasant, WV.
