John William Cook Jr.

John William Cook Jr., 81, of Henderson, WV, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born November 10, 1931, in Henderson, a son of the late John William Cook Sr. and Mamie Ellen (Walker) Cook. Junior was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union of Point Pleasant and Mason County Coon Hunters Association. He owned Cook's TV Repair for 40 years, and loved to hunt and raise a garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Sheline and an infant sister; and three brothers, Walter Cook, Charles Cook, and an infant brother. Surviving are his wife, Betty Jean (Hoffman) Cook of Henderson; two daughters, Virginia "Ginny" (Larry) Hall of Point Pleasant and Mary Evelyn (Randy) Blain of Point Pleasant; two sons, John William (Cheryl) Cook III of Catawba, North Carolina and Rex Allen (Sara) Cook of Point Pleasant; two special sons, Mick Neal and David Atkinson both of Point Pleasant; and special daughter, Ruthie Baird of Southside, WV. Also surviving are six sisters, Virginia (Roy) Gibson of Gallipolis, Ohio, Ruth Northup of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, Mary Belle Pasquale of Gallipolis, Ohio, Margaret "Cookie" Pierce of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Lucy (Mike) Mitchell of Belleville, Illinois; and Doris Henry of Gallipolis, Ohio; two brothers, Cecil Cook of Gallipolis, Ohio and Larry Cook of Gallipolis Ferry, WV; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Naomi, Cheryl, Bessie, Sadie, and Babydoll. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Rev. Alfred Holley and Speaker Ronnie Cremeans officiating.
