Linda Kay Stewart

July 31, 1948 — August 11, 2025

It is with sad hearts we are letting everyone know that our beloved Mom and wife to our Dad has passed away.  The past few years have been hard as we watched this disease take pieces of her.  One thing stood strong, her love for us and our love for her.

Mom was a retired hairdresser and business owner who enjoyed spending time with her family, her dog Angel, traveling and playing cards with her very special friend group.  She also helped sing and dance in the Gary Stewart Quintet.  But perhaps her most proud mements (aside from family) came as she worked, aloneside our Dad, as the PPHS color-guard instructor.  She was by his side as he taught at PPHS for over 30 years and later she helped him as he continued his career at Rio Grande University. Whenever you saw one of them the other wasn't too far behind.

She was born July 31, 1948 in Gallipolis, OH, a daughter to the late Olen Withers "Benny" Neal and Pauline Marie (Holley) Neal.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by granddaughter, Michele Denise Hendricks; brother, Richard Allan Neal; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reuben and Francis Stewart; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Neal and Mary Fowler.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband of 48 years, Gerald L. "Gary" Stewart of Point Pleasant; daughters, Crystal Hendricks and husband Chipper of Key West, FL, Melissa VanMeter of New Haven and Tiffany Preston and husband Chris of Ona, WV; grandchildren, Katie (Jeremy) Richardson of New Port Rickey, FL, Michael Hendricks of Ballston Spa, NY, Madison (Trey) Tucker of New Haven, Colton Preston and Chloe Preston of Ona; great-grandchildren, Riley Richardson, Silvey Kay Richardson and Kallie Tucker; brother, Ronald Neal of The Villages, FL and several nieces and nephews.

We would like to invite all of our family and friends to come celebrate her and share any fun stories you have.  We would like to remember those times.  Mom is whole again but it's going to take awhile fo us to feel anything but loss and emptiness.  In times like this it is easier surrounded by friends and family and we certainly have an abundance of that.

Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Point Pleasant with Chipper Hendricks and Rev. Claire Bass officiating.  Burial will follow at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, WV.  Friends may visit with the family from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV.
