Lois Avalee Saunders

Lois Avalee Saunders, 91, of Glenwood, WV, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 2, 2026, at her residence.

She was born April 23, 1934 to the late John Don Tolliver and Lola Belle (Scarberry) Tolliver.  Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Clayton McComas; son-in-law, Kenneth McComas; sisters, Geraldine Price, Charlotte Richardson, Betty Sturgeon and Eileen Wray; brothers, Charles, Leo, Kenneth and Richard Tolliver.

Avalee attended Union Methodist Church in Glenwood, WV and Beale Chapel in Apple Grove, WV, and was an outstanding homemaker her entire life.

She is survived by her husband of seventy five years, William Belford Saunders of Glenwood, WV; daughter, Shirley McComas of Glenwood; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Karen Saunders of Glenwood; grandchildren, Angela (Tom) Staats, Natalie Taylor, Jessica Meadows, Jeff (Jackie) Saunders and Denver Saunders; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brother, Lester Tolliver of Lesage, WV and multiple nieces, nephews and a host of additional family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Steve Hinkle officiating. Private burial will follow at Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Ashton, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
