The heart of our family, Louise E. Norris Gibson, passed away peacefully on June 21st, 2026, at the age of 94. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother and me-mar, beloved great grandmother and great-great grandmother, loving sister and treasured friend, whose life was defined by her unwavering love for her family and her faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ.

 On March 28th, 1932, she was born to the late George L. and Hattie Sammons Norris and had resided in Gallipolis Ferry, WV, with her daughter and son-in-law. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest K. Gibson, II, her brothers, James E. Norris, William D. Norris, two infant brothers, two sisters, Anna E. Marcum and Dixie Bevans. 

Louise is survived by her daughters, Theressa Terri (Roy) Canterbury of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, Lisa A. Copley of Fairview, WV, and her son E.K. (Julie) Gibson, III, of Charlotte, NC. Two stepdaughters, Barbara Gail (Joe) Dotson of Fredrick, MD, and Karen (Robert) Varney of Blountville, TN. She has 18 grandchildren and step grandchildren with 11 spouses, 25 great grandchildren and step grandchildren with 3 spouses, 6 plus one on the way great, great grandchildren and step grandchildren. One sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Chester Cochran of Point Pleasant, WV, plus many nieces and nephews, all of which she deeply loved. 

Louise was well known for her talent of sewing, cooking, and baking for her family, church families and friends. 

She spent countless hours designing and sewing cheerleading uniforms for local cheerleading teams, costumes for her church families, and many upon many dresses for her children, grandchildren and great children. She loved being in the kitchen, making tasty meals along with cookie trays, cakes and her famous pies for those she loved and cherished. 

Louise was a devout Christian and attended the 5th Avenue Church of Christ in Williamson, WV, before her relocation to Mason County, WV, where she became a member of New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Point Pleasant. 

While we grieve her absence, we rejoice in knowing she has found peace in the presence of her Lord. Her faith, love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her. Until we meet again, she will remain forever in our hearts. 

We would like to say special thanks to granddaughter, Carrie Ferrell, Dr. Harold Ayers, Pleasant Valley Healthcare Center and Mason County Action Group.

A service to celebrate the life of Louise will be 12 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Mel Mock and Roy Canterbury Jr officiating.  Burial will follow in the Canterbury Family Cemetery, Gallipolis Ferry, WV.  Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday, at the funeral home.
