Mary Elizabeth Dowell

Mary Elizabeth (Clonch) Dowell, 94, of Henderson, WV, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Pleasant Valley Healthcare Center, Point Pleasant, WV.

She was born May 31, 1931, in Gallipolis, OH, a daughter of the late Carl and Gladys Faye (Pearson) Clonch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dowell; sisters, Margre (Bob) Messick, Violet (Ted) Nibert; granddaughters, Lisa Wymer, Elisa Wymer and niece, Regina Gillispie.

Mary retired from Putnam County Schools as the Head Cook for Winfield Elementary with over 30 years of service. She attended Wyoma Pentecostal Church and enjoyed going to yard sales with her sister, cooking, and baking.

Survivors include her daughter, Belinda (Jim) Wymer, of Scott Depot; grandson, Jason (Amy) Wymer and granddaughters, Kelsey and Haley Wymer.

Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2025, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home. A processional will leave the funeral home following the visitation for a brief graveside at Wyoma Cemetery, Gallipolis Ferry, WV.
