Nelson Leroy Coon, 85, of Point Pleasant, WV, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the Mountain View Care Center, Ripley, WV, following an extended illness.
He was born March 1, 1941, in Warren County, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Robert Nelson and Alice (Sturgeon) Coon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alta Coon.
Nelson retired as a Sander from Master Carvers Furniture Factory in Jamestown, NY, with over 15 years of service. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Jamestown, NY, and was an avid fisherman. Nelson enjoyed gardening and attending NASCAR races with his son.
Survivors include his children, Anna Meadows and her husband, Derrick of Point Pleasant, WV, Robert Coon and his wife, Jennifer of Gallipolis, OH; grandchildren, Amara Meadows, Faith Meadows, Josh Wolff, Gabriel Coon and one great granddaughter, Adestria Wolff.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Nelson will be announced in the coming weeks.
