Robert C. "Bob" Baird

Robert C. “Bob” Baird was born September 13, 1933, in Hogsett, WV, to the late Joseph “Buster” and Glenna Roberts Baird. He passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Ann Smith, Ruth Wright; brother-in-law, Olsten Wright and nephew Mark Wright. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Eileen McCarty Baird; stepdaughter, Cassie Kelly; stepson, Brian Deal (Kim) and granddaughter, Bre Page. All of whom he felt as his own. He is also survived by nephew, Randy Wright; nieces, Kim Duncan (David), Kathy Hoffman (David), Nikki Roe (Manning); nine great nieces and nephews and his fur babies, Kandi and Miss Kitty.

Bob graduated from Point Pleasant High School, class of 1951 and attended Bellmead United Methodist Church.

Bob served in the United States Army for a short time and spent 30 years as a farmer. He was a member of the American Legion Post #23, Point Pleasant, WV, and a long-serving member of the Mason County Fair Board. He served on the Farm Service Agency, Old Farmers Home Administration Committee and a 51-year member of the Farm Bureau. He served as a Supervisor on the Western Conservation District and Charter Member of the WV State Farm Museum. He also served as President and Vice President of WV Association of Conservation District. He was appointed by three Governors to the West Virginia Agricultural Land Protection Authority Board of Trustees. He was enshrined into the West Virginia Agriculture and Forestry Hall of Fame. Bob finished his career by serving 12 years as Mason County Commissioner and various committees.

The family would like to thank special friend and neighbor, Johnny Reynolds, for all his help and support throughout his illness.

Service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Nathan Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Beale Cemetery, Apple Grove, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
