Robert O'Dell Clonch

Robert O’Dell Clonch, 75, of Gallipolis, was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior on September 8, 2026. He was born on October 2, 1950, in Henderson, WV, to the late Orville and Mildred Clonch.

He was blessed to share 53 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Bonna May Clonch. Robert was a proud United States Army veteran who honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. His service was a testament to his courage and strength. For most of his working life, he was a skilled carpenter, taking great pride in his work and what he could build with his own two hands.

Later in life, he made one of the most meaningful decisions of all: he turned his life over to the Lord. His faith became an important part of who he was, and he developed a deep love for attending church and fellowshipping with his church family at Two Rivers Fellowship.

Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Paul (Hopie) Higginbotham. His siblings: Anna Mae (Tootie) Hoffman, Eugene Clonch, and Ruth (Curly) Higginbotham; and brother-in-law’s Roger Bennett and Carol Plantz.

Surviving include his wife, Bonna May Clonch, and sons, Robert “Bud” (Shelly) Clonch Jr. and Shane (Rachel) Clonch. Grandchildren: Travis Clonch, Cory Clonch, Jacob Clonch, Lilly Clonch, Brooklin Clonch, Kaydence Clonch, Whitney (Chris) Vilfer, Ryan (Ciera) Terry, and Hunter (Sydney) Terry. Great-grandchildren: Lucas Freeman, Braxton Vilfer, Lindsey Vilfer, and Oakley Terry.

Also surviving are a sister, Hazel Plantz, and brothers, Curtis (Reba) Clonch and Larry (Jonie) Clonch. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Janice (Harry) Woyan, Joyce Bennett, Paula (Ronnie) McKinney, and Paul Wayne (Nancy) Higginbotham, plus a host of nieces and nephews.

He leaves behind a legacy of service, hard work, faith, love, and devotion. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and has gone home to be with his Lord. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Robert “Bud” Clonch Jr. and Brad Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the West Virginia Honor Guard and the Stewart Johnson V.F.W. Post 9926, Mason, WV. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until time of the service on Friday, at the funeral home.
