Robert Milton Shank, 84, of Gallipolis, OH, formerly of Lancaster, OH, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, at his home in Gallipolis. He was born February 25, 1929, in Pliny, WV, a son of the late Walter Russell Shank and Nancy (Bateman) Shank. Robert served in the United States Army as Honor Guard from 1951-1953, and was baptized at Faith Baptist Church in Rodney, OH. He was a farmer, and retired with 26 years' service from the Ohio Department of Transportation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Marie (Scheetz) Shank; a son, Roy Shank; one brother, Charles "Curley" Shank; and son-in-law, Rick Glassburn. He is survived by his wife, Evalee (Sturgeon) Myers Shank; one son, Robbie Shank of Marion, OH; a daughter, Becki (Art) Glassburn Siegesmund of Powell, OH; two brothers, Hershel Shank of Milton, WV, and Glenn (Nell) Shank of Gallipolis, OH; three sisters, Thelma Sturgeon and Nellie Lake of Huntington, WV, and Ruth Meadows of Carroll, OH; a sister-in-law, Faith Ann Shank of Bellefontaine, OH. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Pastor Jim Lusher officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Lancaster, OH. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holzer Hospice, 100 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631 or a charity of your choice.
