Ronald Lee McCarty Jr.

Apr 21, 1963 — Jul 30, 2026

Ronald Lee McCarty Jr., 63, of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, passed away July 30, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Ronald was born on April 21, 1963, in Fort Knox, Ky, a son of Ronald Lee McCarty of Apple Grove, WV and the late Linda Lou (Lee) Powers. In addition to his mother, Ronald was also preceded in death by his step mother, Marlene McCarty.

Ronald was the kind of man who could build it, fix it, or figure it out. A true jack of all trades, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do. He devoted 39 years of his life to serving his country, carrying that same sense of duty and integrity into every part of his life. Whether serving his nation or caring for those he loved, he always gave his all. Above all else, his greatest accomplishment was the family he loved so deeply. The same hands that spent a lifetime serving others first taught us what love, sacrifice, and strength truly looked like.

Ronald was a graduate of Hannan High School Class of 1981 and earned his bachelor’s degree in science of business leadership with honors. He was an avid bee keeper and most all, he was happy that he gave his heart to Jesus.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Darlene L. (Wood) McCarty of Gallipolis Ferry, WV; children, Kelsi (Taylor) McCarty White of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, Jennifer (Joseph Day) Wood of Point Pleasant, WV, Jessica (Alex) Wilson of Gallipolis Ferry, WV and Justin (Chloe) Wood of Gallipolis Ferry, WV; six grandchildren, Gage, Jax, Gunner, Paisley, Theodora and Colson; two brothers, Jeff (Sharon) McCarty of Columbus, OH, Tim (Lori) McCarty of Leon, WV; one sister, Beth (Sean Galloway) Lanier of Gallipolis Ferry, WV.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Josh Searls officiating.
