Ruth Joyce Stewart

Ruth Joyce Stewart, 99, of Point Pleasant, WV, passed peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Rivers Health in Point Pleasant, WV.

She was born March 28, 1926, in Liverpool, WV, a daughter of the late Samuel Woodward Williams and Cora Addie (Cline) Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Hale Charles Stewart; son-in-law, John Paul "Butch" Gardner; siblings, Walter "George" Williams, Ralph "Ted" Williams, Okla Keeney, Una Boggs and Betty Morey.

Ruth was a member of Heights United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant, WV and was retired from Pleasant Valley Hospital as an operating room technician. She so enjoyed working in her flower garden and watching her purple martins each year.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Joyce and Jack Lee of Point Pleasant, WV and Diana Hudson of Point Pleasant, WV; grandchildren, Stephen Gardner of Point Pleasant, Leigh Ann and husband Dewey Howes of Point Pleasant, WV; great grandchild, Jacob and wife Aliza Gardner of Point Pleasant, WV; great great grandchild, Noah Gardner of Point Pleasant, WV. She is also survived by additional family members and a host of friends.

A graveside service and burial will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, WV, with Rev. John Bumgardner officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, on Tuesday prior to the graveside service.
