Wilbur E. Jordan, born July 25, 1946, passed from this life surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and unwavering devotion.
Wilbur entered this world as a fighter—born prematurely at just three pounds, cared for on a pillow and nourished with Carnation milk and sugar water. From the very beginning, his life was a testament to strength, resilience, and God’s grace.
He was the youngest of thirteen children born to Everett and Carrie Jordan, who preceded him in death, along with ten of his siblings: Ruby Razor, Reba Marcum, Beulah Bechtle, Harry “Bubby” Jordan, Helen Myers, John Jordan, Jimmy Jordan, Ralph Jordan, Larry “Buck” Jordan, and Phyllis Bonecutter.
Wilbur is survived by his loving wife of over five decades, Jennie Ellen Jordan, whom he married in 1970. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and faith. He also leaves behind his three children: Nancy Osborne (Bo), Jessica Bryant (Billy), and Jordan Jordan (Billie Jo).
His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren—his “grandbabies”—Hunter “Bug” Bryant, Keira “Sissy” Bryant, and Braydon Bryant. They were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment with them. Whether in person or through FaceTime, he never missed a milestone, always showing up with love, pride, and that familiar smile.
He is also survived by two siblings, Don Jordan and Jewell Durst, his sisters-in-law, Mary Poling and Ruby Jordan, his dear friend, Charles “Bubby” Martin, who faithfully prayed with him, brought him to church, and helped lead him to the Lord, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was always looking for Danny and especially enjoyed when Jim would stop in to visit and check on him.
Wilbur served his country with honor and pride during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 as part of the Big Red One, 1st Infantry Division. He participated in Operation Junction City and the Tet Offensive, serving in the Iron Triangle. His service to his fellow soldiers was something he carried with him throughout his life, honoring their sacrifice and brotherhood. He was also a lifetime member of American Legion Post 23, where he continued to support and stand alongside fellow veterans.
His proudest and most meaningful moment came on March 26, 2023, when he gave his life to the Lord at Faith Gospel Church. From that day forward, he shared his testimony with anyone who would listen, speaking of the peace and comfort he found in his faith. Because of this, he faced the end of his earthly journey without fear, knowing where he was going.
Wilbur was known for his kind heart, his willingness to help anyone in need, and the ever-present smile he shared with the world. Above all, he loved his family deeply and completely. He was not only a father, but a best friend and a steady presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren.
He will be loved beyond measure and missed every single day.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
