William Donald Jordan passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, faith, and love for his family.
Born on February 23, 1935, Don was a hardworking man whose life was shaped by family, faith, and the hills he always considered home. A welder by trade, he worked for American Car until his retirement.
Don is survived by his daughter, Valerie; his grandchildren, Brandie and Elijah “Buck” Ebert; his sister, Jewel Durst; his sisters-in-law, Ruby Jordan and Jennie Ellen Jordan; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews who adored their “Uncle Don Don” and loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Carrie Jordan; his brothers, Harry “Bubby” Jordan, Jimmy Jordan, Ralph Jordan, Johnny Jordan, Wilbur Jordan, and Larry “Buck” Jordan; and his sisters, Beulah Bechtle, Reba Marcum, Helen Myers, Phyllis Bonecutter, and Ruby Razor.
There was no place Don loved more than the cabin on the hill where he and his siblings were raised. Growing up on the family farm, he learned the value of hard work at an early age. He especially enjoyed working the horses while plowing the fields. He worked so hard and loved it so much that even after he went to sleep, he would continue working the horses in his dreams, calling out the same commands he had used throughout the day. His siblings often shared this story, and it remained a treasured family memory.
Later in life, Don’s favorite pastime was sitting on his tractor, brush hogging the fields, and enjoying the peace that came with being out on the hill. It was there, surrounded by the land and memories of his childhood, that he felt most at home.
Uncle Don Don was always a joy to be around. He had a sense of humor like no other and could bring laughter to any family gathering with a good story. His laughter was contagious, and his quick wit and warm personality made every visit more memorable.
He especially enjoyed a good picking and grinning session and was proud to watch his nephews play bluegrass music while his great-niece played the fiddle. Those moments filled him with happiness and reflected his love of family, music, and tradition.
Hardly a day passed without Don calling his sister, Jewel, to hear the latest updates from Crab Creek and Five Mile. Those conversations were an important part of his daily life and reflected the special bond they shared.
Of all the moments in Don’s life, his proudest came when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In August 2023, he was baptized alongside his brother, Willie. This was a deeply meaningful moment that brought him great peace and joy.
Don also had a special friend, Linda, whose visits and companionship he always looked forward to and deeply appreciated.
The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to the caregivers and staff of Pleasant Valley Healthcare Center. Their kindness, compassion, and genuine love for Don meant more than words can express. They cared for him as if he were one of their own, and for that, his family will be forever grateful.
William Donald Jordan will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his contagious laughter, his unforgettable stories, his love of the family hill, and the fierce love he had for those closest to him. His memory will live on in every family gathering, every bluegrass tune, every story told, and every peaceful ride across the fields he loved so much.
