William Belford Saunders

William Belford Saunders, 96, of Glenwood, WV, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV.

He was born November 14, 1929, in Glenwood, WV, a son of the late William Denver and Vena (Hawthorn) Saunders. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois Avalee Saunders; brothers, Richard Saunders, Donald Saunders; sister, Landora Greathouse; grandson, Clayton McComas and son-in-law, Kenneth McComas.

William retired from the American Car and Foundry Company as a Reveter with 30 years of service.

Survivors include his children, Shirley McComas of Glenwood, WV, William “Bill” Saunders and his wife, Karen of Glenwood, WV; six grandchildren, Angela (Tom) Staats, Natalie Taylor, Jessica Meadows, Jeff (Jackie) Saunders, Denver Saunders; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Service will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2026, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Steve Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery, Ashton, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday, at the funeral home.
